Even more bubbly in real life than on the telly, Kate tells new! she and Philip, 29, laugh about how they got together. “We look at each other sometimes and say, ‘I can’t believe we met on a TV show!’”

The couple fell in love during the filming of the hit BBC1 show last year, but split up because they lived so far apart. However, they rekindled their romance when the show aired earlier this year, and Philip moved to London from Durham.

On the show, estate agent Philip even admitted his lust for Kate was why he got fired!

As Kate prepares for her new role on Live From Studio Five, she talks to new! about marriage, babies, and why Philip is her best friend…

How is your relationship with Philip going?

It’s going really well, thank you very much! We’ve just moved house to somewhere bigger. I was living on my own in a one-bed place and Philip moved in a couple of months ago, so it got a bit cosy and we need the extra bedroom. It’s good to be able to have guests and with my new job, it’s going to be easier to live nearer the studio.

Are there any wedding plans under way?

123Movies to watch Eternals (2021) online for free streaming at home

[Laughs] No! We haven’t got engaged yet!

Would you like to get married one day, though?

To be honest, with moving house and everything else going on, I don’t think there’s anything further from our minds! A wedding would be the last thing we’d want to plan at the moment.

When it happens, what kind of day would you like?

I don’t know. I’m not sure I’d want to go to too much trouble. You know those weddings that cost thousands and take so much planning, just for one day? Then it’s over! I don’t know whether I’d be up for that. It looks really stressful.

Haven’t you planned your big day since you were a girl?

Definitely not! My mate is getting married next year. She’s the first of my close friends. I’m her bridesmaid, so maybe I’ll think differently about it after that!

What kind of dress would you like?

I have no idea. We went shopping for our bridesmaids’ dresses and my friend [the bride] got me to put on a wedding dress similar to hers so that she could see what it looked like next to our dresses. I put it on and it’s the kind of dress every girl would dream of. I love dressing up and being glamorous, but it just didn’t look right on me! So I’ll need some inspiration when I do it!

So we will be waiting a bit longer for The Apprentice’s first baby then?

[Laughs] Oh, definitely!

Are you excited about the new presenting job?

It’s so exciting. I never dreamed of this kind of opportunity or that people would want to watch me on telly! None of the contestants have gone on to a career in TV presenting and I never expected it to happen to me. That wasn’t why I went on The Apprentice, but I am grateful for the opportunity.

Are you nervous?

Very! It’s live television, which is a challenge, but I love that. I’m pushing myself out of my comfort zone and nerves are good.

Do you get on well with your co-hosts Melinda Messenger and Ian Wright?

It’s all about the chemistry between us, so if we didn’t get on we wouldn’t be doing the show together. Ian’s opinionated and we’re all chatterboxes! They’re both down to earth and I clicked with them straight away.

What will your role be?

It’s a magazine-style show, but there’ll be some pre-recorded reports. I’m lucky because I’m the one who gets to go out to report on the film junkets and new bands. I can’t wait!

Which stars are you looking forward to interviewing?

I don’t know who we’ll have on. It’s a topical show, so we can’t plan much in advance. It would be great to get Katie Price or Peter Andre, though, so we could hear the gossip!

Would you get star-struck?

No. They’re just people, even though they’re successful. Being in the boardroom with Sir Alan [Sugar] prepares you for anyone! I love Oasis, so meeting Noel Gallagher would be nerve-racking, but cool. I’d love to meet Kate Moss, too. She never gives interviews so she has an air of mystery.

Who are you in touch with from The Apprentice?

I’m good friends with Howard [Ebison] and I went for dinner with Yasmina [Siadatan] last night. We’re going to a barbecue at Debra [Barr]’s at the weekend. She’s my closest friend from the house – apart from Philip, of course!

Is Philip supportive of your new job?

Absolutely. He’d be supportive whatever I did, but he’s great at encouraging me and I really value his opinion. I was worried how people would see me and that they’d criticise me, but he said I shouldn’t worry what anyone else thinks.

Is having a relationship in the public eye difficult?

If anything, the fact we were both on The Apprentice is a bonus. For the others, it might be a bit difficult when people come up to you in the street, but as a couple we talk about it together and get invited to the same things. It’s got its difficulties, like when the papers tried to paint Philip as a womaniser!

Have you made any celebrity friends?

Only the guys from The Apprentice, but we don’t call each other celebrities! We met Ant and Dec at an Oasis gig – they were sweet. We’ve had an opportunity to meet people, but I wouldn’t call them friends. We don’t go out much!
